Monday didn't start off that well. But that's no surprise, is it?
Truth be told, my Monday started off bad because my Sunday ended bad. I went to bed in pain around 11:30pm or so. An hour later I sent a text to my husband begging him to bring me a couple of Tylenol. Thankfully, he did and the 2 little pills worked their magic. An hour later the pain was subdued and I was asleep.
Then the alarm went off and the rest of my day was chaos.
From 9am - 5pm, the phones rang off the hook and a steady stream of people made their way through our doors to conduct business. There was also mail, email, and faxes that required my attention.
Oh, and did I mention that we are short-staffed because one of my co-workers quit?
And it's Monday.
One would have thought it was the first of the month rather than the middle.
Nevertheless, there is a positive to be found in the midst of chaos.
Transition can be a good thing.
Today, transition meant learning how to do my job better. It meant that I had to focus on what I was doing rather than just going through the motions. It required me to hone my communication skills. My co-workers and I were forced to work together as a team to ensure that the work got done without killing each other in the process.
This week and the coming weeks will be a continual time of transition. But I choose to embrace the chaos in order to learn new things, to better myself, and to make my work environment a great place to be.
What was one good thing that happened during your day? What do you think about transition - is it good or bad?
Do we work at the same place?? Monday for me was very similar. We have two people out on extended medical leave and had some *major* issues to work through. Tuesday wasn't much better, but you're absolutely right...there are lessons to be learned. Mine is to realize that God is in charge and He will take care of everything is His way. Maybe I'll learn that tomorrow. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Tammy! Considering tomorrow is not Monday (my least favorite day of the week) I'm sure it will be much better. :)
ReplyDeleteHope your day is much better tomorrow!!
