He Overcame

Poetry is not my thing, but today I was inspired to write.  And this is what came out.

He overcame
     my grief
          my sorrow
               my pain

He overcame
     my disbelief
          my doubt
               my disdain

He overcame
    my sin
         my shame
              my chains

The inspiration came while listening to Jeremy Camp's song "Overcome" on Pandora.  As his song proclaims, "Savior, worthy of honor & glory. Worthy of all our praise.  You overcame!  Jesus, awesome in power forever.  Awesome & great is Your name.  You overcame!"

Thank you, Jesus!

stolen line

My hands are
          holding yours

As we gaze upon
          distant shores

A line drawn
          in the sand

Don't let go
          of my hand

Where do we go from here?

peace poem

Yesterday was a rough day.  To release some of what was going on in my head and heart, I wrote a poem.  Poetry is definitely not my thing, so it's not well written.  But I wanted to share it anyway:

Praying for peace in the middle east
And across the street
Will it ever end?
Keep trying to mend
The broken pieces keep slipping through my hand
Maybe I'll go bury my head in the sand

What do you do when you're having an emotionally rough day?
